"If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in our heart
that God raised him for the dead, you will be saved."   Romans 10:9

1.  The Purpose: A Personal Relationship with God

The God who created you desires to be in a personal relationship with you because He loves you supremely. Your primary purpose in life is to love God personally and bring glory to Christ. Through this relationship with Jesus you will experience abundant life on earth and life everlasting in heaven.

God’s Word says:
  • For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. – John 3:16
  • Everyone who is called by My name, and whom I have created for My glory, whom I have formed, even whom I have made. – Isaiah 43:7
  • This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. – John 17:3

2.  The Problem: Separated from God by our Sin

God is holy meaning He is absolutely separate from evil and must judge sin. We have all sinned. Everyone has broken God’s righteous laws not only through our actions but also through our thoughts resulting in eternal punishment which the Bible calls hell. Your good works and religious rituals cannot generate or merit eternal life.

God’s Word says:
  • Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord of hosts, the whole earth is full of His glory. – Isaiah 6:3
  • For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. – Romans 3:23
  • For all of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags. – Isaiah 64:6

3.  The Solution: Jesus’ Death upon the Cross

Motivated by love God sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to live a perfect life on earth while being fully God and fully man. Jesus then died in your place upon a cross to receive the full punishment and wrath of your sins. He rose from the grave on the third day so you may be forgiven of your sins, brought into relationship with God, and have eternal life with Him.

God’s Word says:
  • For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. – Romans 6:23
  • But God demonstrates his own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. – Romans 5:8
  • For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. – 1 Peter 3:18

4.  The Response: What Must I do to be Saved?

To receive eternal life you must believe in Jesus Christ and trust in His grace which is His unmerited favor. Accepting Jesus as the Lord of your life involves:
1.  Believing Jesus is the Son of God who died for you and rose from the grave
2.  Confessing your sin by asking Jesus to forgive you
3.  Repenting by turning from both sinful lifestyles as well as trusting in self-righteous lifestyles
4.  Choosing to live your life for Jesus Christ

God’s Word says:
  • If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. – Romans 10:9
  • For by grace you have been saved through faith and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God. Not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. – Ephesians 2:8-9
  • If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. – 1 John 1:9

5.  The Decision: Ready for a Relationship with God

If you would like to begin a relationship with Jesus Christ sincerely pray:

“Dear Jesus, I believe that You are the Son of God, I believe that You died for my sins and rose on the third day. Please forgive me of my sins. I turn from my sinful life and choose to follow You as a disciple. Jesus come into my heart and fill me with the power of the Holy Spirit. In Jesus name amen.”

6.  New Life: Your Next Steps with Jesus

Welcome to the family of God! If this prayer reflects your heart’s desire you have been spiritually born again, forgiven of your sins, and will spend eternity in heaven!

God’s Word says:
  • Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. – 2 Corinthians 5:17
  • He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life. – 1 John 5:12-13

This is only the beginning of a wonderful new life in Christ. Here are a few steps to help you grow in your relationship with Christ:
1.  Read your Bible everyday to know Christ better, He will speak to you through His Word. Begin reading the Gospel of John.
2.  Talk to God regularly through prayer sharing your joys, anxieties, and requests.
